The Role

Reporting to the Product Solutions Manager as a Hardware Team Lead, you will support the development of new products using the latest (often pre-release) components and technologies to deliver market-driving products.

What will I be delivering?

The key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leadership of a team of hardware engineers (currently 4) completing detailed aspects of electronic design.

  • Mentoring and development of hardware engineering team.

  • Work in a team carrying out digital hardware and firmware design and development of processor-based products from definition through to production.

  • Work closely with engineering design authorities and wider engineering team to define engineering processes.

  • The creation of schematics and support of PCB layout, ensuring the mechanical and thermal design comply with requirements/ schedule needs.

  • Carry out design reviews including schematic and PCB layout.

  • Prepare and submit technical work for review at lifecycle reviews.

  • Support in the product realisation team in generation of test plans, validation of designs and handover to production.

  • Contribute to system development, ensuring that hardware components integrate seamlessly with software and other system elements.

  • Creation of required design and user documentation.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineering, product management, and manufacturing, to ensure seamless integration of hardware components.

  • Prepare and present technical reports, documentation, and management of technical risk.

What do I need to bring with me?

Essential Knowledge and Experience

  • BEng/MEng/MSc/ in Electronic Engineering or similar/equivalent discipline;

  • Proven track record of digital circuit design;

  • Excellent problem solving and debugging skills;

  • A passion for technology, people and continuous improvement.

Desirable Technical Skills

  • Experience working with PC motherboard architecture, e.g. microprocessors (64bit), PCI Express, 100 Gbit Ethernet, advanced Memory;

  • Programmable logic devices or FPGA ;

  • A good understanding of design for test and manufacture of electronic products,

  • Knowledge of product lifecycle in

  • Understanding of electronics design for rugged applications;

  • Embedded Software experience/appreciation;

  • Appreciation of the challenges of high-speed electronic design.

  • Experience in leading technical projects or working as a technical lead

  • Experience with Intel or ARM chipset

  • Experience in work package management
