The Role

As a buyer, your responsibility is to oversee purchasing activities in relation to components needed for our Products. It involves collaborating closely with the Program, Planning, and Engineering teams to ensure it is being purchased in line with the sales order book and pipeline.

This role is ideal for someone who has a keen interest and previous experience of purchasing in the electronics industry and is eager to get stuck in. We’re looking for someone who brings practical, hands on experience and who can confidently manage core procurement processes from day one.

This role will focus on the operational fundamentals: raising and managing purchase orders, coordinating supplier communications, maintaining accurate inventory levels, and ensuring timely deliveries. This is a critical position as we scale, and you'll be key in keeping procurement activity smooth and responsive to business needs.

The key responsibilities for the role include:

  • Reviewing, benchmarking, and scheduling components to be purchased.

  • Working in line with vendor score card KPI’s, On Time Delivery (OTD), On Time to Requirement and 95% quality performance.

  • Support manufacturing schedule, inventory management and arranging Kanban schedules.

  • Processing day to day purchasing activities including order entry, quote requests, and supplier follow up to ensure availability of components in line with productions needs.

  • Seeking opportunities for cost reduction within the procurement of electrical, electronic and mechanical materials and outsourced manufacturing services.

  • Liaising with the Design Engineering teams and interpreting detailed Bill of Material's.

  • Ensuring stock levels are in line with project requirements, and overseeing the materials planning and flow to aid cash flow

  • Chasing suppliers and making arrangements for the delivery of items such as circuit boards.

  • Supporting coordination with warehouse and inspection teams to ensure smooth handover of incoming materials.

What do I need to bring with me?

Demonstrated knowledge and experience

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing environment, ideally within electronics.

  • Solid working knowledge of operational procurement processes including buying, supplier engagement, and material planning.

  • Strategic industry management – ability to create plans that help to predict the global market.

  • Financial acumen.

Qualifications

  • CIPS qualification (desirable) or equivalent industry experience

  • High level of problem solving and reasoning to solve it.

  • Confident in gathering information to make the right decision.
