Packaging Concurrent Technologies products for shipment

To ensure your product arrives at our facility safely, please be careful to package it properly and comply with all local and international shipping regulations.

  • If possible, ship the product in the original inner and outer packaging.

  • If the original packing materials are damaged or not available, ensure that the item is securely packaged and padded for shipment, movement in the inner packaging should be restricted.

  • Make sure the product is secure in its shipping container, shock absorbing materials e.g. anti-static foam should be used to fill any voids between the inner and outer packaging.

  • Anti-static packaging material – please use only anti-static film, bubble wrap, ESD bags, etc. to insure that ESD susceptible components are not damaged by electrostatic discharges during the packing, shipping and un-packing process.

  • Do not use styrene material – peanuts, foam, or other static generating material between the inner and outer packaging.

ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE

Do not use unacceptable materials, as listed above, when packaging electronic equipment.

Equipment that contains electronic components is susceptible to damage or degradation from electrostatic discharge.

Unacceptable materials can generate static charges in excess of 10,000 volts, causing a high risk of damage to susceptible components.

ESD damage can result in immediate or latent failure resulting in a shortened product life in its working environment.

LITHIUM BATTERIES

Shipping Lithium batteries and product with a Lithium battery installed are classified as “Dangerous Goods” under the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regulations.

The packaging of Lithium batteries and product with a Lithium battery installed, requires that packaging labelling must comply with current IATA and ICAO regulations. Click here for more information.

Using Concurrent Technologies PLC Original Inner Box Packaging

The original inner boxes used to ship our products are intended to be reusable and when correctly configured provides a secure, shock absorbing, and ESD safe packaging system for our product.

The packaging is RESY (5264) approved and can be recycled along with used corrugated cartons.

The empty packaging can be stored flat, reducing storage space requirements.

When reusing the original packaging it is important that the film that surrounds the packaged product, protecting it from movement, shock and vibration is not damaged. Similarly, the foam attached to the component tray intended to provide additional restriction to movement during transit should be largely intact.

All materials (corrugated cardboard, foam and film) used in the construction of the inner box are ESD safe.

Two inner box sizes used are; designated “Large” and “Small”, care should be taken to ensure that the correct box size is used to provide maximum protection during transit. The “small” box is exactly half the size of the “large” box allowing flexibility in packaging different size product in the original outer packing carton without wasting space.

The film over the product tray in the inner box is designed to conform to a variety of shapes allowing it to be used for a wide range of products.

The packaging has been designed with a selection of folds on the product tray that can be employed to provide sufficient tension on the film to restrict product movement during transit. Please use the example images of correct, box size selection, product placement position under the film and tension fold selection to configure the inner box for the product you are packing.

The rolled side sections can be used to store accessories e.g. cables, batteries or instruction sheets.

PRODUCT REMOVAL FROM THE INNER BOX

Both the Large and Small inner boxes have basic instructions for product removal printed on the outside, the following contains more detailed instructions.

When removing newly delivered product from the inner box care should be taken not to damage the film and foam on the product tray. The film tension should be released sufficiently to prevent the contents catching on the product tray film or foam.

Do not cut, tear or stretch the film material.

Note: If the film is torn or the films adhesion to the product tray is damaged the inner box should not be reused for shipping. The foam may have some minor damage, as its primary purpose is to assist with the prevention of product movement and not to provide cushioning during transit.

The products contained are Electrostatic Discharge Sensitive (ESDS), it is important that they are only removed from the protection of the inner box in EOS/ESD safe workstations within Electrostatic Protected Areas (EPA).

The following steps should be followed to remove product from the inner box:

  • Place the box on a flat surface, with the Concurrent Technologies logo face down and the “Content Removal Instructions” visible.

  • Open the box by gently pressing the locking tab inwards sufficiently to release the box lid.

Fold up the lid and insert the locking tab.

Do not over press the locking tab or attempt to force the box lid open without releasing the locking tab as this could result in damage that prevents correct locking when re-using the box.

  • Fold the lid down flat.

  • Unroll the box side rolls and remove if present any accessories, instructions, batteries, etc.

Unroll the box side rolls and remove if present any accessories, instructions, batteries, etc.
  • Break the ESD warning seal(s) on the back of the product tray back panel. The ESD seals can be peeled off or carefully cut, when cutting care should be taken not to cut into the box material.

Product cannot be removed from under the film on the product tray without damaging the box with the ESD warning seal(s) intact.

Break the ESD warning seal(s) on the back of the product tray back panel. The ESD seals can be peeled off or carefully cut, when cutting care should be taken not to cut into the box material.
  • Fold down the product tray back panel, and lift the product tray to allow the two side film tensioners to be unfolded.

Fold down the product tray back panel, and lift the product tray to allow the two side film tensioners to be unfolded.
  • To remove the contents fold both of the side tensioner upwards and lift the film to enable the contents to be removed without catching on the film or foam attached to the product tray.

To remove the contents fold both of the side tensioner upwards and lift the film to enable the contents to be removed without catching on the film or foam attached to the product tray.

Take care not drag the contents across the foam this may result in damage to the PCB and foam; always lift the contents clear of the foam before removing from beneath the film.

PACKING INSTRUCTIONS – INNER BOX

  • Using the above general product images determine the product format.

  • Using Table 1, select the appropriate inner box size [Large / Small].

  • Place the box on a flat surface with the printed face downward, the product tray end nearest.

  • Fold both of the side tensioner upwards. The small box has only one fold position on each side; the large box has 2 positions on each side. For the large box refer to the “Fold” column on Table 1. to select which fold lines to use.

Carefully lift the tension film and place the product on the product tray in the position and orientation indicated in the last 2 columns of Table 1.

  • General

The retention of the product on the product tray is determined by the film tension it is therefore important to use the component tray folds and to orientate the product so that the ends of the product are as close as possible to the edges of the component tray.

Always ensure that the product is completely covered by the tension film such that the film edges are lower that the surface of the product.
