From SOSA® Alignment to Conformance: The Next Phase of Open Architecture Mission Computing
September 2026
Concurrent demonstrate how next-generation processing, hardware-rooted security, SOSA® Conformance and emerging AMS GRA-aligned digital engineering can help defence programmes introduce new capability faster while maintaining interoperability and a viable technology-refresh path at MOSA Summit 2026.
September 2026 — Concurrent will showcase its latest Open Architecture mission-computing developments at MOSA Summit 2026, exhibiting alongside New Wave Design at Booth 210.
Visitors will see a live demonstration of Hornet, Concurrent’s compact two-slot SOSA® aligned rugged mission computer, alongside the company’s newest generation of Hermes II and Magni II SOSA aligned 3U VPX processing products, based on Intel® Core™ Ultra Series 3 technology, formerly known as Panther Lake.
Together, the technologies address a central challenge for defence programmes: introducing greater processing and mission capability without compromising interoperability, security or the ability to refresh technology over the life of a platform.
Hermes II and Magni II, announced in March 2026, extend Concurrent’s 3U VPX processing portfolio for next-generation Open Architecture systems.
Hermes II is targeted at I/O-intensive mission-processing applications using a 14.2.16 SOSA® profile, while Magni II is targeted at compute-intensive applications using a 14.6.11 profile.
Both products feature a 16-core Intel® Core™ Ultra Processor 366H Series 3, AI GPU acceleration, 100GBASE-KR4 Data Plane connectivity, PCIe Gen 4 Expansion Plane support and high-capacity secure storage options.
At Booth 210, Concurrent will demonstrate how this processing capability can be deployed within Hornet, its sealed, conduction-cooled two-slot mission computer. Hornet combines mission processing with payload expansion, removable storage, mission I/O and Open interfaces, with the second slot supporting FPGA or GPGPU payload capability.
Concurrent have also introduced a dedicated PolarFire FPGA secure enclave within its new product generation.
The architecture places a hardware security layer beneath the host processor, enabling protection to begin before the operating system or application software is running.
Capabilities include security-event logging, anti-tamper sensors, hardware-triggered sanitisation and post-quantum cryptographic functionality.
The secure enclave is designed to complement Concurrent’s existing Guardian security framework, providing a layered approach spanning trusted boot, firmware, storage, platform configuration and physical tamper response.
Beyond the hardware, Concurrent will highlight its work supporting the evolution of SOSA® Conformance and its emerging activity around AMS GRA and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
Concurrent has participated in multiple SOSA® Conformance dry-runs, helping exercise the documentation, artefacts, test processes and verification infrastructure required as the industry moves from products being described as ‘SOSA® aligned’ towards formal verification against the SOSA® Technical Standard.
The company is also evaluating how MBSE models can be developed to align its hardware products with AMS GRA requirements and give systems integrators architectural information that can support integration earlier in the engineering lifecycle.
“Our customers need Open Architecture to translate into deployable capability,” said Cody Cox, Director of Embedded Engineering at Concurrent. “That means introducing new processing technology faster, securing the platform from the hardware up, reducing integration risk and maintaining a path for future capability insertion.
“Our work across next-generation VPX processing, the SOSA® Technical Standard, SOSA® Conformance and AMS GRA-aligned MBSE is focused on helping make that possible.”
Concurrent and New Wave Design will exhibit at Booth 210, where visitors can see Hornet in operation and discuss Hermes II, Magni II, hardware-rooted security, SOSA® Conformance and Concurrent’s developing work around AMS GRA and MBSE.
